Playful skis are easy to maneuver, and are generally more flexible and forgiving. They excel in trees, bumps, and on side hits. For some skiers, they may leave something to be desired when making big fast turns.
Demanding skis are confidence inspiring at speed, especially when carving bigger turns. They excel at hard snow carving and big mountain ripping. For some skiers, they may leave something to be desired when making short quick turns.
A demo ski is a used ski that comes with a mounted binding that can be adjusted to any boot size. Demo skis typically come from demo fleets or programs, whether on the mountain, in a mountain town shop, or from the manufacturer.
Some skis are paired with bindings while others are not. If a ski does not come with bindings, they must be purchased separately, as bindings are required to use a ski. We have a large selection of bindings available. When you select a ski you will see compatible bindings.
USPS Parcel Post is often the preferred method for shipping skis and snowboards since it is usually the least expensive and accepts oversized packages. You can find used boxes at ski and bike shops and sometimes even at home improvement centers like Home Depot and Lowes.
Visit us in store to shop a huge selection of skis, snowboards, apparel and more. Whether you need new gear or want to take advantage of our expert ski and snowboard services like boot fitting or tunes, you can find everything you need for winter on the mountain.

I am hoping to pick up some used skis on my way to Breck this March. Can anyone recommend any shops with a large selection and good prices? Is it better to look in (ta && ta.queueForLoad ? ta.queueForLoad : function(f, g){document.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded', f);})(function(){ta.trackEventOnPage('postLinkInline', 'impression', 'postLinks-56441116', '');}, 'log_autolink_impression');Denver/Boulder than up in the Mts? Thanks.
I do the same as Babalax. I buy the demo skis. The past few years I have purchased at the Gorsuch in Keystone. Preferably ones they bring over from Beaver Creek. Those skis don't seem to get much hard use.
Every couple of years or so, some of the local ski areas switch out their winter apparel, worn by their workers and volunteers, for newer gear. But what happens to the used, high-quality gear? Some of it ends up halfway across the world.
A great set of vintage downhill skis with a classic look. Groswold skis made in Denver, CO made some of the best skis at the time. These are in excellent condition - they have all the binding parts present, the logos are clear and readable, and they seem to have avoided the major scratches and "dings" of normal wear and tear. Beautiful color.
Rent local: Although renting gear at ski resorts is convenient, it usually includes a higher cost. You can get cheap ski clothes by renting from local outfitters in Denver, or buy used gear if you plan to ski through the season.
Fortunately, if you shop toward the end of the ski season (February to March), you will find skis much cheaper than if you buy gear at the beginning of the season. It is also a good idea to look for skis on sale early in the fall months long before the rest of the ski community is thinking about winter sports.
Skis can be found for even less during the off-season. During the late summer and early fall, retailers are continuing to make room for new gear, and you can often find great deals during those months. Labor Day is especially a good time to look for deals on skis as many retailers hold sales on the holiday.
Unfortunately, the later you wait, the less of a variety of options you will find while the prices might be lower if you will be taking a big chance of not being able to find the right pair of skis or boots in your size.
As time passes and prices drop, rememberthat it will become more and more difficult to find your ideal pair of skis. Therefore, if getting the best deal is what is most important to you, you haveto be flexible. The selections you have to choose from, such as colors, sizes, and models will suffer.
While you will save a big chunk of money bybuying used skis, it is generally not a good idea to do so. Unless the skiswere only used once or twice, you risk buying skis that are scratched up andcould have structural damage to the bindings if they were not appropriatelymaintained.
The rental shop can also tune and adjust your skis and bindings properly to your boots, skill level, and weight, so the next time you head to the resort, you can skip a trip to the repair shop and get straight on the lift.
The level of experience you have on the slopes will also influence the final price of your ski setup. For example, beginner-level skis are often much more affordable than skis developed for advanced skiers. The main reason for this is that beginner skis are built with softer, more flexible materials that allow smoother, easier turns.
On the other hand, skis intended for advanced skiers are designed with stiffer materials enabling skiers to go faster and make more forceful turns. These skis are more stable overall, and they will cost you more.
One advantage of shopping in the storeversus online is that you can ask a professional for help. Most people in skishops are skiers themselves and want to make sure that you get set up with thebest equipment within your budget. Ask specifically what makes a specific setof skis better than another for you or why the prices vary from ski to ski.
The worst time of all to buy skis is during the Christmas season. Not only is skiing the most popular during these months but prices, in general, will be raised because of the demand for gifts during the season of giving.
Unbelievable experience here buying used skis and poles. The guys were knowledgeable, helpful, and got me out the door in one hour with my skis remounted, waxed, and tuned up. I got on the mountain that same day and loved what I bought. I never write reviews, but HIGHLY recommend this place.

This category includes your primary ski gear: skis, bindings, and boots. All retailers on this list carry the popular all-mountain skis from top brands, but moving outside of those items reveals some variation. In ranking the retailers, we placed an emphasis on consistency of stock as well as carrying a good assortment of products. Backcountry excels in the high-end market, including ski equipment for alpine touring and deep powder, while REI has a large stock of resort gear. Specialized snowsports retailers like Evo have the widest selection covering nearly every category, including skis for youngsters and park and pipe.
During Labor Day, the carnival atmosphere spilled outside onto the parking lot, adjacent to the Sports Castle, where skis, boots, poles, gloves, hats, goggles and clothing were put on sale for the general public. This writer remembers University students carpooling the six miles to Gart Brothers to stock up on ski equipment for winter or purchase other sports equipment.
Oh, man, a rite of summer. I lived on Cap Hill and would walk down on the first day to look for deals. I got a great pair of used skis for $50 that I saved for early or late season runs, screw the exposed rocks. Also a great place to compare season passes. So sad when it all ended.
When thinking about dropping hundreds or even thousands of dollars on new gear, consider another option. Buying used helps the environment, stimulates the local economy and keeps money in your bank account for beer and lift tickets.

This was our second experience with Black Tie Ski Rentals and I cannot say enough great things about the company. The website saved everyones info from our first use in Telluride 2 years prior so all I had to do was tweak the kids' ages and weights. SUPER EASY. We didn't have to waste a day in line at the mountain waiting on gear. The nicest guys brought it directly to our house at the time we picked. Took maybe 5 min total. Scott was awesome about letting my husband swap out skis to snowboard 1/2 way through the trip at the side slope valet. All our equipment was in wonderful shape and we actually paid less than our friends who used a different company. I will never use any other company!
Fantastic service. They arrived on time, fit us perfectly with excellent choices for skis and picked them up on time. Pricing was comparable to renting from a shop but without having to leave our house. 781b155fdc
